Following the success of the inaugural City Open in 2011 Curl Aberdeen is delighted to announce that the event will once again feature in the curling calendar in 2012 taking place 3rd to 5th February.
For up to the minute news please see our Blog Page within this site or as a standalone site at this link.
With the support of Petrofac, our sponsor for the second year in a row, teams will be able to battle it out over a weekend of fun and competitive curling to win the right to have their names engraved on the striking trophy that Aberdeen City Council generously donated following the European Curling Championships that were hosted by Aberdeen.
This event is open to any four curlers who wish to enter from home or abroad. Every team is guaranteed four games as the 24 teams will be split into two sections and play a schenkel system of four group games. The top four teams from each section will move forward to the quarter finals which will be held on Sunday morning.
The organising committee are delighted that this event has also been selected to be one of a number of events that is to form the ‘Goldline Scottish Curling Tour’, with that in mind we expect that there will be significant interest in the event and would encourage early registration to avoid disappointment.
Curl Aberdeen has also secured a discounted rate with the local Holiday Inn Express at Westhill of £55 per room bed and breakfast. Saturday night will see teams sitting down to a two course meal followed by an evening of entertainment all of which is included in the team entry fee of £180. Tickets for supporters of teams will also be available for the Saturday night but must be purchased in advance.
Please click here to download the entry forms which should be completed and returned to Tom Brewster at Curl Aberdeen as soon as possible.
